La féminisation de la Marine nationale peut être postulée comme étant réalisée. Notre perspective résolument compréhensive, interroge un processus en cours, en donnant la parole aux femmes et aux hommes, du terrain au commandement. Si l’on peut supposer par hypothèse leur capacité à être des marins à part entière, la singularité des postes en mer et la répétition des embarquements, interrogent aussi les femmes dans leurs identités conjugales, familiales et maternelles ; comment, au sein de leurs fonctions professionnelles, négocient-elles leur intégration dans un univers masculin et, au sein de l’espace privé, concilient-elles leurs rôles, choisis et/ou assignés ?

The feminization of the French Navy can be said to have been completed. In this matter, we adopt an understanding standpoint to study this current process. We therefore make women as well as men those who command as well as those who are commanded tell us about their experience. As a working hypothesis that they are able to be full “seamen”. Moreover what is clearly at stake in the particularities of working and being onboard deals with women as wives, mothers and in their roles within their families : when they are at work, how do they cope their integration within a “male world” ? In the same way how do they reconcile their chosen and/or alloted roles at home ?
