Jacques Dubuisson (ca. 1650-1710): A bachic composer
Type de matériel :
26
Jacques Dubuisson is one of the three most important composers of serious and drinking airs in France: from 1686 to 1710, he published 302 airs through Christophe Ballard. His music, rich and varied, oscillates between tradition and modernity, and gives pride of place to the Bacchic air, whose popularity was then growing. The analysis of unpublished archival documents shows how Dubuisson, a composer of popular music, built his professional network without the regular support of patrons. The research undertaken sheds new light on the life of secular music, which was developing at the time outside the courtly spheres.
