The implementation of a household waste collection system at the rural level requires adequate organizational requirements to ensure sustainable economic operation. To this end, the rural commune of Nobéré, in Burkina Faso, was used as a field of investigation in the case of a contingent market, to identify on the one hand, the determinants of the willingness to pay for the implementation of the municipal household waste collection service and, on the other hand, the existence of spillover effects. Using primary cross-sectional data and a double hurdle model, income, knowledge of the negative effects of waste, household size and number of children in the household have positive effects on willingness to pay. There are behavioral spillover effects that positively affect willingness to pay and could be used as a means to strengthen the implementation of a collection service.
