This paper evaluates the impact of the mobile phone usage by the farm households in Niger on their poverty. By using the propensity score matching (PSM) and the inverse probability weighted regression adjustment (IPWRA) estimation methods, the authors find the use of mobile phones by rural Nigerien farm households has a negative and significant impact on the intensity and the severity of their poverty. However, the probability to use the mobile phone decrease for the farm households located in rural area. An emphasis should be on the mobile phone usage especially in rural area to reduce poverty in Niger. (JEL: I32, L96, O12, O33, Q12).
