‪Major sporting events often receive extensive media coverage. Such events also bear witness to technological or societal transformations which have potentially disruptive effects on the practice of sports journalism. This thematic issue explores the role of sports journalists as actors in a changing society, as they are situated at the intersection of social, professional and sporting norms. The issue’s pluralistic perspective, as evident in the wide range of methodological and conceptual tools and frameworks represented in the different contributions, also highlights the interdisciplinary nature of French Information and Communication Sciences.‪
