La loi argentine de protection des forêts vise à freiner la déforestation liée à l’avancée de la frontière agricole. Dans un pays marqué par des déséquilibres sociaux et territoriaux, la loi repose sur un principe de solidarité entre groupes sociaux et entre zones au sein d’un même territoire. Cet article observe l’application de la loi dans la province du Chaco. Il questionne ce principe de solidarité territoriale et sa capacité à agir sur les risques sociaux et environnementaux de la déforestation. Il montre que les objectifs de la loi sont détournés pour favoriser les dynamiques agricoles à l’œuvre et améliorer la production dans les zones les plus fragiles au niveau environnemental.

The Forestry Legislation of Argentina was designed to slow down the deforestation caused by the progress of the agricultural frontier. In a country marked by social and territorial inequalities, the law is based on a principle of solidarity between social groups and between areas within the same territory. This article examines the application of the law in the province of Chaco and questions the principle of territorial solidarity and its capacity to affect the social and environmental risks of deforestation. It demonstrates that the objectives of the law are biased in order to support agricultural dynamics and to improve production in the most environmentally fragile regions.
