On behalf of the research center Psycle (Psychology of Cognition, Language, and Emotion Laboratory, Aix-Marseille University, France) in Aix-en-Provence, the tenth edition of the Ripsydeve colloquium was devoted to the transfer of knowledge “From research to practice.” The focus aimed to examine practice in the light of the most recent research results and to analyze how research can be influenced by field questions. The rich reciprocal influence between research and practice that characterizes developmental psychology can also be found in developmental psychopathology: hence the second focus of the colloquium was “studies in developmental psychology and psychopathology.” To investigate autism, the notion of an individual developmental trajectory is central, allowing us to take into account the variety of clinical symptoms around a common hub, and the life-long variability of developmental profiles under the influence of interactions between endogeneous, exogeneous, and experiential factors. Crosslinking studies on typical and atypical development helps us to keep in mind a dynamic representation of development and to measure the importance of reading the atypical trajectories in the framework of general developmental models.
