The Quebec government has opted for a model of intervention in situations of neglect based on an ecosystemic approach. Beyond this governmental orientation, how are the service organizations implementing the components of this program? This study aims to situate the Quebec model among the various approaches that exist, to describe its components, and to report on the challenges that accompany its actualization. A total of 93 semi-structured interviews were conducted with caseworkers, partners, and parents from 22 regions. The results show that the ecosystemic approach is now part of the discourse of child protection workers, partners, and parents. However, putting this approach into practice poses two major challenges: the time required to build the necessary collaborations with families and other community players; and the need for support for caseworkers. Adjustments to the existing administrative structure could provide better recognition of the investment and expertise that are essential to successfully implement an ecosystemic approach in child neglect interventions.
