Encounters with confinement: A reflection on care in psychiatry

My sociological research led me to study situations of violence, practices of constraint, and secure units in psychiatric hospitals, in parallel with the rise of health democracy, which advocates respect for patients’ rights and, especially, their consent. This article explores these topics through the lens of confinement, whose paradoxes illustrate the changes underway in psychiatry.
