“Employees first,” you say?! Toward a dialogical approach to governance and management

In this article, we show that the French social and medico-social sector is experiencing a process of deprofessionalization, resulting in the expansion of the instrumental dimension of the work and a shrinkage in its autonomy and payment-free status. Newly emerging organizational forms, with service platforms at the forefront, have the potential to lend impetus to a process of reprofessionalization. However, this presupposes reversing the hierarchical pyramid in order to bring about a dialogical governance and management capable of combining autonomy and control.
