Certain attacks committed in the name of jihadism are perpetrated by people with a long history of crime and whose radical engagement may have seemed like an “answer” to situations of biological impasse. What is the role of radical engagement and violence in these trajectories? What are the specific characteristics of these trajectories compared to those who escape a life of crime?
