Some Elements of a Psychodynamic Understanding of Maison d’Adolescent (MDA) Projects

The purpose of this article is to offer some elements toward a psychodynamic reading and understanding of “Maison de l’adolescent [“Teenager’s house”] projects. The latter are recently-introduced establishments embodying a new dynamic, and still “under construction” according to several different models and types of organization. We discuss the dynamics brought about by such a project still under development and in transformation (the construction of the self and its respective idealization), and the similarities that emerge between the project under development and the process of adolescence, those of organization and drives, object investments and the multiple, the dimension of identity, and finally the role of our outlook on these evolving projects.
