Ce texte poursuit un objectif méthodologique : préparer le passage de la représentation d’un espace anthropologique - l’espace nomade -, à un espace méthodologique-l’espace mobile. La première étape y est décrite, en insistant sur le lien qui unit l’acte cartographique à une conception sédentaire de l’espace, la mobilité n’y étant appréciée que dans un second temps comme un changement dans un état normal stable. Au Sahara et au Sahel, suivis ici à titre d‘exemple, cette fixation par la carte n’a pas été sans produire des tensions avec l’espace des représentations comme enjeu.

Mapping, covering and sedentary orderThis paper has a methodological objective : to prepare the way from the representation of an anthropological space - nomad space – to a methodological space - the mobile space. The first step is described here with emphasis on the relationship between mapping and the sedentary conception of space, mobility being assessed in a second time as a change in a stable condition. In the Sahara and the Sahel followed her, the fixed map has not been without causing tensions with the space of mobility as a real stake. This stake focuses first on the space of representations.
