En hommage à l’œuvre de Philippe Malrieu, est proposée une analyse du processus de subjectivation chez le jeune enfant et le rôle majeur des premières années dans l’élaboration des conduites du sujet. Les hypothèses relatives à une socialisation active et à un enfant acteur, sont développées. La façon que Philippe Malrieu a eue de concevoir la psychologie de l’enfant entre en résonance avec les travaux de chercheurs contemporains. Pourtant, son œuvre est encore trop peu enseignée dans les universités françaises et méconnue Outre-Atlantique.

In recognition of Philippe Malrieu’work, we offer an analysis of the process of subjectivation in the young child and of the major role of the first years of life in developing this process. Hypothesis related to an active socialization and to the perception of the child as an involved agent are discussed. The way Philippe Malrieu has had of conceiving the child psychology is similar to contemporary work in the field but his work is still rarely taught in French universities and largely unrecognized on the other side of the Atlantic.
