C’est un regard militant que nous offre Franck Chaumon sur la thèse soutenue par Danièle Papiau en 2017 « Psychiatrie, psychanalyse et communisme (1924-1985) ». Il pense que cette thèse est une occasion de relancer le débat. Si la position des communistes a pu être hégémonique, elle a aussi été diverse et riche de conflits, parfois majeurs. De sorte que la proposition centrale de la thèse qui cerne une « identité de psychiatre communiste » peut apparaître imprécise. Pour l’auteur on doit penser à nouveaux frais ce « moment psychiatrique français » que Danièle Papiau a choisi d’interroger du point de vue du mouvement communiste.

The position of the Communists could be hegemonic but it was also diverse and rich of conflicts, sometimes major. So that the central proposition of the thesis -surrounding a « identity of communist psychiatrist » -may appear imprecise. According to the author, the “French psychiatric moment” that Danièle Papiau chose to question from the point of view of the communist movement deserves a new approach.
