Nous voudrions explorer Duel, le film de Steven Spielberg, avec l'aide de l'outil psychanalytique. Rentrer dans le film en quelque sorte, comme si l'on rentrait dans un rêve. Ainsi, nous allons suivre le parcours psychique du personnage principal, en mettant en avant son rapport à la figure maternelle et au meurtre, aspects peu explorés dans les films de ce réalisateur. Le langage, la persécution, la figure maternelle et le meurtre constituent les points nodaux de ce véritable Bildungsfilm.

In this paper, with the help of psychoanalytical tools, we will explore and work on Steven Spielberg's film, Duel. We would like to enter the film as if we were entering a dream ; therefore, we will follow the psychological journey of the main character, while specifically emphasizing his relationship with the maternal figure and the murder, topics rarely researched within Spielberg's film. Language, persecution, the maternal figure and the murder are the central points of this Bildungsfilm.
