Les notions de « médium » et de « médialité » apportent un renouvellement très fécond dans la manière de penser les médiations du rapport à soi. En montrant le rôle déterminant du médium, de son matériau et de ses formes spécifiques dans le façonnage du rapport à soi, elles amènent à reconnaître que le sujet se constitue dans des pratiques qui sont ce par quoi et ce dans quoi une subjectivité se constitue. Par ailleurs, la notion de « pratiques automédiales » permet d’englober toutes les formes d’expression et de langage : parlées et écrites, photographiques, visuelles, sonores, graphiques, plastiques, numériques, corporelles et gestuelles, scéniques, etc. Entre autres conséquences, la réflexion liée à la « médialité », tout en élargissant le champ des pratiques, ouvre les démarches de formation à de nouvelles approches plus conscientes du rôle constitutif des médiations dans les processus de construction du sujet.

The notions of "medium" and "mediality" bring a very fruitful renewal in the way of thinking about the mediations of the relationship to oneself. By showing the determining role of the medium, of its material and specific forms in the shaping of the relationship to oneself, they lead to the recognition that the subject is constituted in practices that are what by what and in what subjectivity is constituted. Moreover, the notion of "automedial practices" allows us to encompass all forms of expression and language : spoken and written, photographic, visual, sound, graphic, plastic, digital, bodily and gestural, scenic, etc. Among other consequences, the reflection linked to "mediality", while broadening the field of practices, opens up training approaches to new approaches that are more conscious of the constitutive role of mediations in the processes of construction of the subject.
