L’héritage de Jean-Baptiste Say, économiste français classique majeur, est incontesté. Cela repose essentiellement sur sa célèbre Loi des Marchés ou Loi des Débouchés. Dans une moindre mesure, c’est sa contribution à la théorie de l’entrepreneur qui est retenue. Dans cet article, l’auteur examine brièvement l’héritage de Say et avance quelques remarques spéculatives sur sa "valorisation" par rapport aux nouvelles fonctions possibles pour l’usine de tissage de coton, à l’origine fondée par lui-même à Auchy-lès-Hesdin (au Nord de la France).

The legacy of Jean-Baptiste Say as the foremost classical French economist is undisputed. For the larger part this rests upon his famous Law of Markets or Loi des Débouchés. And to a lesser extent upon his contribution to the theory of the entrepreneur. In this paper the author briefly examines Say’s immaterial legacy, and put forward a few speculative remarks on its « valorization » in relation to new possible functions for the factory buildings of the cotton spinning mill, originally founded by him in Auchy-lès-Hesdin (in the North of France).
