L’article aborde quelques orientations de l’enseignement social de l’Église catholique en regard de la question des migrations. Au début, les préoccupations de l’Église visaient surtout la pastorale des catholiques émigrés. Depuis le Concile Vatican II, les textes du Magistère traitent cette thématique d’une manière plus large, en s’intéressant à la responsabilité d’accueil des Églises locales et aux besoins des migrants. En plus, l’appartenance religieuse des migrants a exigé de la part de l’Église le développement progressif d’un dialogue interreligieux et d’une pastorale ouverte aux nouvelles réalités de la migration. L’exigence d’une collaboration dans la gestion des défis de la migration a été renforcée les dernières décennies, en raison de l’ampleur du phénomène.  Le Magistère invite constamment à la pratique de l’hospitalité, d’une solidarité sociale, d’un engagement concret et d’une coopération internationale pour trouver des solutions globales aux problèmes des personnes déplacées. L’accueil, la compassion et la charité envers les migrants constituent une exigence urgente qui découle de la fidélité au message évangélique.

The article addresses a number of guidelines from the social teaching of the Catholic Church as regards the question of migration. Initially, the Church focused on the need for pastoral ministry to emigrant Catholics. Since the Second Vatican Council, the texts of the Magisterium have dealt with this topic in a broader manner, taking an interest in the responsibility of local churches to welcome migrants and focusing on the needs of the latter. Moreover, the religious affiliation of migrants has required the Church gradually to develop an interreligious dialogue and a pastoral approach that reflects the new realities of migration. The need for collaboration in managing the challenges of migration has been reinforced in recent decades in light of the scale of the phenomenon. The Magisterium continually invites people to practice hospitality, express social solidarity, become engaged at a practical level and cooperate internationally to find global solutions to the problem of displaced persons. Hospitality, compassion and charity to migrants are an urgent requirement that follows from fidelity to the Gospel message.
