Datura is a plant that induces hallucinogenic effects with a predominant action due to atropine. The induced psychological effects are short-lived, less than 2 days. However, in the event of serious poisoning, cardio-respiratory symptoms may be observed, which can sometimes lead to death. There is no real addiction to datura due to its side effects, but any consumption should alert the general practitioner to understand the reasons for such consumption and to be able to remedy it.

Cependant, en cas d’intoxication grave, il est possible d’observer des manifestations cardio-respiratoires qui peuvent parfois aboutir au décès. Il n’existe pas de réelle addiction au datura du fait de ses effets secondaires, mais toute consommation doit interpeller le médecin généraliste pour comprendre les raisons d’une telle consommation et pouvoir y remédier.
