Les discours afrocentrés afro-américains, apparus au début des années 1990, pensent la présence noire dans les histoires mondiale et nationale à travers le territoire et l’espace. Ils inventent leur Afrique, faite de villes, de royaumes et de pays qui incarnent ce qu’ils nomment l’« expérience africaine » globale. Cet article analyse les usages historiographiques afrocentristes des notions de continents, de diaspora et d’espace.

Imaginatives of Africa and Afrocentric HistoriographiesThe African-American Afrocentric discourses that appeared in the early 1990s rethink the black presence in world and national histories through space and territory. African-American Afrocentrists in search of an African memory invent their Africa made of cities, kingdoms, civilizations and countries that embody what they call the global “African experience”. This article analyzes the Afrocentric historiographic uses of notions such as continents, diaspora and space.
