Accusés de compromissions, Roland Dorgelès et Rosny aîné, alors Président de l’Académie, intentèrent un procès contre leurs détracteurs. Perdue d’avance, l’action en justice eut au moins le mérite de permettre aux deux écrivains de préciser leurs positions respectives dans le champ littéraire de l’époque et de nouer amitié.
