Cet article apporte un éclairage sur la migration féminine de travail à partir de la présentation de trois parcours de femmes depuis leur arrivée en Suisse au début des années 80. Ces tranches de vie rendent entre autres visible comment le genre s’appuie sur le système discriminant des autorisations de séjour délivrées aux personnes de nationalité étrangère et vice versa afin de mettre au pas les femmes migrantes. En mettant en évidence ces rapports sociaux, la perspective adoptée par l’auteure remet en cause les dichotomies (tradition du pays d’origine versus modernité du pays d’accueil, passivité des migrantes versus activité des migrants) qui ont longtemps structuré les approches de la migration féminine. Elle interroge également le cadre de référence très influencé par le psycho-culturalisme dans lequel la question de l’intégration des migrantes en Suisse est officiellement posée.

This article provides reflections on the condition of women immigrant workers through a presentation of the experiences of three such women since their arrival in Switzerland in the beginning of the 80s. These intimate reports reveal important aspects of the ways in which gender relations are structured by the discriminatory system that regulates residency for those of foreign nationality and vice versa, with the aim of controlling women immigrants. Bearing in mind these relations of power, the author questions the validity of the dichotomies (tradition in the country of origin vs modernity in the country of arrival ; passivity of immigrant women vs activity of immigrant men) that for a long time have been the basis for conceptualizing immigrant women. The author also questions the great influence that psycho-culturalism plays in the official approach to the integration of immigrant women in Switzerland.
