À l’occasion du quarantième anniversaire de la promulgation de Lumen Gentium, cet article propose de relire la maxime caractérisant l’ordination diaconale « non pas pour le sacerdoce mais pour le ministère ». Après avoir rappelé le contexte de cette maxime, l’A. tente de l’interpréter à la lumière de l’enseignement conciliaire sur la collégialité, pour faire apparaître la structure et la charge ministérielle propres à l’ ordo diaconal.

On the occasion of the fortiest anniversary of the promulgation of Lumen Gentium, the A. recalls its teaching : deacons are ordained for the benefit « not of the priesthood but of the ministry ». Reminding us of the context of this doctrinal assertion, he interprets it in the light of the conciliar teaching on collegiality, and he brings into light the structure and the ministerial charge proper to the deacon’s ordo.
