Temps d’arrêt dans le continuum de l’histoire, le moment de la décision est celui par lequel l’événement s’inscrit dans le réel, le marquant de son empreinte. Les processus ayant abouti à deux réformes d’importance, en France et aux États-Unis, servent à illustrer la part spécifique dans le changement social de la pensée critique, du débat et de l’analyse clinique, enfin de la décision politique, et la manière dont ils se combinent pour façonner l’événement et lui donner sens. Ainsi, ce bref essai se propose d’éclairer les rapports dialectiques entre acte et processus, entre affirmation d’une règle et déploiement de l’imaginaire.

Sudden and unpredictable, an event recalls that the present is altogether a continuation of a forgotten past and the crucible of an indistinct future. Bow time in the conium of history, the moment of decision is that through which an event becomes meaningful and marks reality with its pinical analysis and political drint. The process of two important reforms, carried out in France and in the U.S. serve to illustrate the respective contributions to social change of critical thought, debate, clecision, and how they combine with each other, constructing and making an event meaningful. Thus, this brief essay attempts to clarify the dialectic relationships between action and process, rule-making and development of the imaginary.
