RésuméÉlie Bloncourt, député de l’Aisne, membre de la direction du Parti socialiste durant la Résistance et à la Libération, et dirigeant de plusieurs associations d’anciens combattants, fut l’un des chefs de file de la composante principale du socialisme de gauche français, le socialisme unitaire, des années 1930 aux années 1950. Il anima ce courant au sein de la SFIO jusqu’à la scission de janvier 1948, dont il fut l’un des premiers artisans, puis à la tête du Parti socialiste unitaire, de 1948 à 1951, et au sein de la direction de l’Union progressiste, durant les années 1950. Il en incarna les principaux combats, contre le capitalisme, le fascisme et le colonialisme, ainsi que pour l’unité ouvrière et l’alliance des démocraties avec l’URSS. Compagnon de route du Parti communiste, il n’en resta pas moins jusqu’au bout attaché au socialisme démocratique.

Elie Bloncourt (1896-1978), a figurehead of unitary left-wing socialismDeputy of Aisne, member of the direction of the socialist Party during the Resistance and at the Liberation, and leader of several war veterans’ associations, Elie Bloncourt was one of the leaders of the major component of the French left socialism: the Unitary Socialism, from 1930s to 1950s. He led this faction within the SFIO until the split of January, 1948, of which it was one of the first promoters, being then at the head of the unitary socialist Party, from 1948 till 1951, and finally within the direction of the progressive Union, during 1950s. He embodied the main fights of them, against the capitalism, the fascism and the colonialism, as well as for the labor unity and the alliance of the democracies with the USSR. He was a fellow traveller of the Communist Party. Nevertheless, he was always attached to the democratic socialism.
