Le but de l’article est de montrer comment s’est constitué un modèle symbolique propre dans la société agropastorale basque d’Ancien-Régime et quelle en a été la conséquence au niveau de la transmission du domonyme. L’on a affaire, en effet, à une structure sociopolitique centrée sur la maison, repérable dans divers textes sous le nom de « coseigneurie des maîtres jeunes et vieux ». Il s’agit d’une autorité partagée par les procréateurs hommes et femmes qui débouche sur un effacement de la patria potestas. Les questions qui se posent dès lors concernent l’élaboration du système de filiation et la construction des identités sexuelles qui le détermine. Et, à un stade plus générique, la correspondance de cette structure avec le modèle logique du « meurtre du père » de Freud. L’examen montre le rôle primordial de la langue basque, sa performativité propre dans le profilage du « meurtre ». L’ensemble de l’argumentation est induit par une idée-clé de Jacques Lacan, celle de la pluralité des Noms-du-Père.

The purpose of this article is to show how, in the Ancient-Régime period, in the Basque society of farmers and shepherds, a specific symbolic model was constituted and what was the consequence at the level of the transmisision of the domunym. This sociopolitic framework centered on the household is identified in various texts under the name of “Coseigneury of Masters Young and Old”. It is an authority shared by the procreators men and women, the result of which is an erasure of the patria potestas. The questions that arise from this fact apply to the way the system of filiation is developed and the construction of sexual identities that determines it. So at a more generic level, it is interesting to ponder over the correspondance between this structure and the logical model of the “Murder of the Father” imagined by Freud. The analysis demonstrates the key role of the Basque language, its appropriate performativity in the profiling of the “Murder of the Father”. All the argumentation is inspired by one of Lacan’s ideas : that of “the plurality of the Names- of -the- Father”.
