À partir des analyses de Lacan concernant das Ding, la sublimation et la formule du fantasme, nous développons l’hypothèse que le seuil est ce reste nécessaire de la Chose inhabitable au centre de l’habiter; et sa condition. Extime de l’architecture il est simultanément ce bord de réversion entre le monde comme système de lieux et l’immonde comme béance originelle. Le seuil est alors en ce sens, qu’il soit enserré ou déployé, le non-lieu de l’inhabitable.

From Lacan’s analyzes concerning das Ding, sublimation, and the formula of fantasy, we develop the hypothesis that the threshold is this necessary residue of the uninhabitable Thing at the center of inhabiting. Extime of architecture, the threshold is simultaneously this edge of reversion between the world as system of places and the original wide opening. In this sense, the threshold, whether it is enclosed or deployed, is the non-place of the uninhabitable.
