Resumé Depuis 1966, soit dix ans après la création du service de psychiatrie à l’hôpital de Fann (Dakar), l’intérêt s’est focalisé sur les enfants présentant des troubles psychiatriques. Les auteurs essayent de retracer l’histoire de la pratique pédopsychiatrique au Sénégal, en identifiant les populations concernées, les demandes les plus fréquentes, les moyens matériels et humains disponibles, les services offerts, le cadre de la prise en charge et l’évolution de tous ces éléments. Plusieurs faits marquants retiennent l’attention quant à cette évolution : les mouvements des personnels plus souvent étrangers, mais aussi nationaux, l’implantation exclusive dans la capitale, l’extension des demandes tant dans leur nombre que dans leurs formes et l’implication progressive des associations de personnes privées.

About forty years of practice of child psychiatry in SenegalSince 1966, ten years after the creation of the Fann hospital psychiatry unit in Dakar, the interest was focused on the children presenting psychiatric disorders. The authors try to evoke the history of the child psychiatry practice in Senegal, by identifying the populations concerned, the most frequent requests, average materials and human available, services offered, the framework of the assumption of responsibility and evolution of all these elements since the beginnings to now. Several outstanding facts may be underlined concerning this evolution: movement of the health workers more often foreign, but also the national ones, exclusive establishment in the capital, extension of the requests so much in their number than in their forms and the progressive implication of associations of private people.
