La méthodologie de l’histoire de vie a par essence des effets sur les acteurs qu’elle mobilise, et en particulier sur celles et ceux qui acceptent de confier leur récit aux chercheurs et que l’on appelle les narrataires. Une petite comparaison avec la recherche-action existentielle, telle que l’a théorisée René Barbier, depuis le niveau des objets à étudier jusqu’au degré de participation des acteurs, en passant par les effets de transformation sur eux et le monde, permet de l’inscrire pleinement dans la catégorie des recherches participatives. Depuis la préparation de cet article, René Barbier est décédé, le 18 septembre 2017, et nous voudrions ici lui rendre hommage.

The Life Story, an Existential Action Research?The methodology of Life history has in essence effects on the actors it mobilizes, and in particular on those who agree to confide their narratives to the researchers and who are called the “narrataires”. A small comparison with existential research-action, as theorized by René Barbier, from the level of the objects to study up to the degree of participation of the actors, through the effects of transformation on them and the world, allow to fully included in the category of participatory researches.
