Ce texte est un témoignage du parcours d’une mère d’enfant autiste qui est aussi psychiatre. Partant des difficultés engendrées par les conflits idéologiques autour de cette affection, l’accent est mis sur les rencontres qui ont pu lui servir de points d’appuis pour frayer son chemin à la fois dans les choix pour cet enfant, et aussi dans un questionnement sur cette affection. Cet itinéraire passe par l’engagement dans des associations qui cherchent à infléchir une politique de l’autisme trop axée sur l’exclusivité de certaines méthodes, afin de maintenir la pluralité indispensable à la compréhension de cet ensemble d’affections complexes et variées.

Exploring unknown territoryThis text is an account of the experiences the mother of an autistic child, herself a psychiatrist, went through. Drawing on the difficulties caused by ideological conflicts surrounding this condition, emphasis is laid on encounters which offered guidance both in choices made for this child and for questions concerning the affection. This entailed being involved in associations which aim to inflect autism policies based on the exclusivity of certain methods, in order to maintain diversity which is essential to the understanding of this group of complex and varied affections.
