Après avoir redonné l’étymologie du terme de handicap, les auteurs mettent en perspective les deux grandes classifications internationales du handicap pour en montrer les différences, soit la Classification internationale du handicap (la CIH) et la Classification internationale du fonctionnement, du handicap et de la santé (CIF). Après quoi, ils envisagent le concept de handicap en pédopsychiatrie en évoquant le cas particulier de l’autisme, et ils présentent ensuite les approches socio-anthropologiques du handicap. Le travail se conclut sur l’importance de la dialectisation des points de vue dans la perspective de la notion « d’écart » ou « d’entre » de F. Jullien.

After restating the etymology of the concept of disability, the authors compare the two major international classifications of disability to show the differences between them: the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities and Handicaps (ICIDH) and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). They then consider the concept of disability in child psychiatry with reference to the specific case of autism, and then present the socio-anthropological approaches to disability. The work concludes on the importance of the dialectization of points of view from the perspective of François Jullien’s notion of the écart, or “gap.”
