C’est la raison pour laquelle le désir n’est pas articulable, quoique articulé. Ce n’est que dans l’acte que son visage prend forme – quelle qu’elle soit.

The thing is not reflected in the word. The written word, different from the spoken word, forbids the lack of awareness of this axiom by sustaining a fantasy of incest between the word and the thing. This is the reason why desire cannot be spoken even if it is articulated. It is only in the act that its face is taking shape – whatever it may be.
