Résumé Les addictés, privés d’introjects bienfaisants, vivent sur le mode de la répétition, y compris dans leur relation à leurs thérapeu~tes. Mal insérés dans l’univers du langage, ils y adoptent un mode de «communication primitive» qui déroute le psychanalyste et induit chez eux des contre-attitudes le plus souvent négatives. Loin d’être négligeables, celles-ci doivent retenir l’attention du thérapeute: ce que leur «fait » le patient. Au prix d’une analyse, d’une élaboration, elles constituent en fait la meilleure voie pour aborder les probléma~tiques de sujets qui ne peuvent, au départ, les exposer verbalement. Faute de quoi, l’attitude du thérapeute risque d’être aussi répétitive que la vie même du patient.

Deprived of salutary introjects, addicts have a way of life based on repetition, including in their relationships with their therapists. Ill-inserted in the language world, they adopt a «primi~tive» way of communication that confuses the psychoanalyst and induces patients’ counter-attitudes, which generally are negative. These should not be neglected and should hold the therapist’s attention: what is their patient «doing» to them. At the price of an analysis and elaboration, these counter-attitudes constitute in fact the best way to approach problems of individuals who can’t, at the start, express themselves verbally. Failing which, the therapist’s attitude may become as repetitive as his patient’s life.
