Si le corps s’impose par ses manifestations, il est aussi lieu d’expression du sujet et d’intégration des expériences. Il se situe en arrière-plan de tout processus de pensée, tout en étant constamment empreint de celle-ci. L’exclure du champ thérapeutique revient à omettre une part essentielle du sujet présent et en devenir.

Would the body not occupy more space in psychic functioning than what we would care to admit ?This is the main question discussed throughout this article. If the body is bound to manifest itself, it is also where the subject expresses and integrates experiences. It supports as well as influences thinking processes. To ignore its importance in therapeutic work would be to omit an essential part of the subject’s being and development.
