Les moments de convivialité dans les quartiers populaires peuvent être envisagés sous le sceau de la fête et de la « communion » humaine mais ils sont souvent investis d’un aspect normatif – le bien vivre-ensemble – de la part des pouvoirs publics, via notamment la Fête des voisins, qui affaiblit la portée conviviale et commune de ces initiatives. Il s’agit alors d’agir sur les habitants et non avec eux afin de normaliser les relations humaines au détriment de la transformation sociale.

Moments of conviviality in working-class neighborhoods can be considered under the seal of celebration and human "communion", but they are often invested with a normative aspect - living well together - by public authorities, via the Neighbors' Day in particular, which weakens the convivial and common scope of these initiatives.
