Plus particulièrement, les bénévoles et les militants qui œuvrent à l’accueil des migrants font l’expérience d’une nouvelle figure d’altérités plurielles qu’ils se plaisent à reconnaître chez eux.

What if the saturation of claims and reflections on identity hides the underlying movement of a quest for otherness? That is the hypothesis proposed. It may even be that a desire for otherness is reinforced by the tendency to assign identities that it is appropriate not to deny, but to put away. The associative commitments, in general, clearly show an aspiration to meet others. In particular, the volunteers and activists who work to welcome migrants experience a new figure of diverse and singular otherness that they like to recognize in them.
