Dynamics are developing around the objective of creating a socio-sporting heritage, participating in the legacy of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Mobilising sport in the service of political and social issues is not recent, however: sociological studies provide an overview of the evolution of this use. Initially, the world of cultural animation was hostile to sport, then gradually adopted “social” approaches to it. The study carried out within municipal youth and/or sports directorates shows that the nature of these approaches depends on political orientations. This article warns of possible perverse effects of desired social orientations, but which do not integrate the aim of social diversity into their principles.

Des dynamiques se développent autour de l’objectif de constitution d’un patrimoine socio-sportif, participant à l’héritage des Jeux olympiques et paralympiques 2024 (JOP). Mobiliser le sport au service d’enjeux politiques et sociaux n’est pourtant pas récent : des études sociologiques dressent en effet un panorama de l’évolution de cet usage. Initialement, le monde de l’animation culturelle était hostile au sport, puis en adopte progressivement des approches « sociales ». L’étude menée au sein de directions municipales de la jeunesse et/ou des sports montre que la nature de ces approches est dépendante des orientations politiques. Cet article alerte sur de possibles effets pervers d’orientations voulues sociales, mais qui n’intègrent pas dans leurs principes l’objectif de mixité sociale.
