Ce travail, réalisé dans le cadre d’une collaboration interdisciplinaire, porte sur la conception et l’utilisation d’un Système d’Information Géographique (SIG) pour l’étude des relations homme-milieux aux échelles régionale et locale. Le SIG est un outil qui ouvre de nouvelles voies à la recherche en archéologie spatiale. L’étude s’oriente autour de deux axes : la définition d’une méthodologie d’intégration des données archéologiques et environnementales dans le SIG, et leur exploitation pour l’amélioration des connaissances géoarchéologiques au niveau de la vallée de la haute Deûle. Le premier objectif a permis de souligner les spécificités des données archéologiques. Il est ainsi apparu nécessaire de vérifier, de corriger ou de compléter le référencement géographique et les informations de la base de données. L’analyse spatiale et statistique est issue du croisement et de l’interception de couches thématiques. La production de plusieurs cartes a permis d’étudier les relations entre la répartition des sites archéologiques et les caractéristiques du milieu.

Designing and Use of a Geographical Information System for the Study of Data Paleoenvironmental and Archaeological) in the Higher Deûle Draining BasinThis work, carried out within the framework of interdisciplinary cooperation, aimed at designing and using a Geographical Information System (GIS) in the study of the relations between men and their environment on the regional and local scales. The GIS is a tool that offers new approaches in spatial archaeology research. This study revolves around two axes : the definition of a methodology for the integration of archaeological and environmental data within the GIS, and their use for a better understanding of the geoarchaeological knowledge at the level of the Higher-Deûle valley. The first objective allowed to underline the specificity of archaeological data. It proved thus necessary to check, correct or supplement the geographical referencing and the information within the data base. The spatial and statistical analysis is provided by the crossing and interception of data organized by themes. The production of several maps has allowed to study the relations between the archaeological spreading out of sites and the characteristics of the natural environment.
