Cet article traite du rapport entre don et parole à partir de concepts linguistiques et philosophiques. S’appuyant dans un premier temps sur des travaux sur le système de la langue et sur des données lexicales à l’origine du mot don et de la notion de civilité, il fait ensuite des propositions et pose des concepts relevant du domaine du discours et permettant de réfléchir au caractère dialogique du don. Dans un troisième temps, il analyse les conditions du dialogue dans le cas d’un usage du téléphone portable dans des situations collectives. Avec l’hypothèse d’une correspondance entre les rapports dialogiques et les rapports sociaux qui vise également à interroger les conditions de l’être-ensemble dans la culture occidentale contemporaine.

This article examines the connection between gift and speech, founded upon linguistic and philosophical concepts. It is based on some works about lexical elements present in the origin of the word “gift” within the language system, as well as the notion of civility. It is followed by propositions and concepts drawn from the realm of discourse, allowing for reflection into the dialogical aspect of gift. Next, the article attempts to assay the communication conditions of the dialogue in a particular case of cellphone calls in collective situations. This analysis presents the hypothesis of a correlation between dialogical relations and social relations, and aims to interrogate the condition of the being-together within contemporary western culture.
