RésuméCet article s’appuie sur des concepts clés de l’économie autrichienne (anticipations, connaissance, institutions), et apporte un regard complémentaire sur la théorie du territoire. En particulier, il montrera que les territoires, à travers les actions individuelles qui y sont « situées », sont porteurs de connaissances privées ou institutionnalisées assurant la coordination. On en déduira trois traits essentiels du territoire : des limites, une localisation, et une identité cognitive.

An Austrian contribution in the theory of territoryThis paper is based on key-concepts of austrian economics (expectations, knowledge, institutions), and brings a complementary view in the theory of territory. Particularly, it will show that territories, through individual actions which are «located» within them, are private or institutionalized « knowledges-carriers », securing coordination. One will infere three essential characteristics of territory from this view : some limits, a location, and a cognitive identity.Classification JEL : R1, R11, O18.
