À partir d’une analyse clinique, l’hypothèse d’une identification mélancolique partielle au visage mort permet de rendre compte de la fragilité de l’inscription symbolique du visage et de la renaissance psychique paradoxale que procure le fracas facial : c’est en détruisant le visage, objet d’un regard défaillant en des temps précoces, que le sujet peut dépasser cette identification et se sentir exister.
