Cet article1 analyse les processus utilisés par les entreprises pour reprendre en interne la gestion d’une activité précédemment externalisée. Il montre que le processus de reconstitution des capacités productives vise à créer une structure d’intégration avant réinternalisation. Cette structure permet d’encadrer le transfert d’activités entre l’entreprise et son prestataire, notamment le transfert de connaissances, compétences et ressources humaines. Elle permet également à l’entreprise d’intégrer de nouvelles routines et capacités créatrices de valeur.

Activity backsourcing: A process study of firm productive capabilities rebuilding This paper studies the rebuilding process of firm productive capabilities during activity backsourcing. It analyzes the means used by firms to take the activity back again. According to our case studies, the rebuilding process consists in creating an integration structure ahead of backsourcing. This structure aims at managing the transfer of activity between the firm and its vendor with a focus on the transfer of knowledge, competencies and human resources. It also allows integrating new value-added routines and capabilities.
