Considérations sur le processus analytique Résumé — La tour de Babel était dans l’ancienne Babylone une construction carrée médiatrice du possible et désirable contact avec la divinité, par où se rejouaient les origines ; la Bible en a fait au contraire le symbole d’un orgueil humain et d’une position de toute-puissance condamnables. L’iconographie classique a transformé la tour en une spirale ascendante placée sous le signe du malentendu, et par là destinée à rester inachevée. C’est une belle métaphore du processus de la cure psychanalytique, où s’illustrent bien les dangers que court l’analyste : l’illusion du pouvoir et le péché de démesure (l’ hybris des Grecs), le sentiment d’indignité, le risque d’imposture... Les oscillations du doute et de la certitude, qui ont marqué toute l’œuvre de Freud, marquent aussi, inévitablement, toute cure analytique, dans le dialogue du transfert et du contre-transfert. On débouche ainsi sur un double et heureux paradoxe, autorisant l’éloge de l’inachèvement de la cure, et l’éloge du malentendu.

The Bible, on the other hand, portrayed it as a symbol of reprehensible human pride and power. Classical iconography transformed this tower into a rising spiral that symbolised misunderstanding and was therefore condemned to remain unfinished. The tower of Babel is thus a perfect metaphor for the of analytical process : it more particularly illustrates the dangers faced by the analyst, that is to say, a) the illusion of power and the vice of self importance (the Greek hybris), and b) the feeling of unworthiness and the risk of deception. The wavering between doubt and certitude that characterises the whole of Freud’s work is indeed characteristic of every case of analytic treatment, and perhaps more specifically in the realm of the transference and counter-transference. The resulting paradox is that is that both inconclusiveness and misunderstanding are considered to be perfectly acceptable in the context of treatment.

Las oscilaciones de la duda y de la certidumbre, que han marcado toda la obra de Freud, también marcan, inevitablemente, cualquier cura psicoanalítica, en el diálogo de la transferencia y de la contratransferencia. Llegamos así a una doble y feliz paradoja, que autoriza el elogio a lo inacabado de la cura y el elogio a lo malentendido.

Die klassische Ikonografie hat den Turm in eine aufsteigende Spirale verwandelt, im Zeichen eines Missverständnis und daher dazu bestimmt, unbeendet zu bleiben. Es ist eine schöne Metapher des Prozesses der psychoanalytischen Kur, wo die Gefahren für den Psychoanalytiker gut illustriert werden : die Illusion der Macht und die Sünde der Masslosigkeit (die Hybris der Griechen), das Gefühl der Unwürdigkeit, das Risiko der Hochstapelei. Die Schwankungen zwischen Zweifel und Sicherheit, welche das Werk von Freud durchzogen haben markieren auch, unvermeidbar, jede psychoanalytische Kur, im Dialog der Übertragung und der Gegenübertragung. La Bibbia ne ha fatto invece il simbolo di un orgoglio umano e di un’onnipotenza condannabili. L’iconografia classica ha trasformato la torre di Babele in una spirale ascendente all’insegna del malinteso, e quindi destinata a rimanere incompiuta. Ecco una bella metafora del processo della cura analitica, in cui si illustrano i pericoli a cui va incontro l’analista : l’illusione del potere e il peccato di dismisura (l’hybris dei Greci), il senso di indignità, il rischio di impostura... Le oscillazioni del dubbio e della certezza, che hanno segnato tutta l’opera di Freud, segnano anche, inevitabilmente, ogni cura analitica, nel dialogo del transfert e del contro-transfert. Si sfocia cosi’ su un doppio e felice paradosso che autorizza l’elogio dell’incompiutezza della cura e l’elogio del malinteso.
