L’auteur cherche à aborder le rapport de l’individu à son propre vieillissement, son rapport au temps et à la mort et ce qu’il implique comme remaniements somato-psychiques particuliers. Invoquant les effets des inévitables altérations du corps sur la vie psychique, de l’ordre d’un débordement traumatique, voire d’un ébranlement identitaire, elle décrit, au travers d’exemples, différentes expressions cliniques liées au vécu du vieillissement : retrait dépressif, somatose, réactivation de l’actuel, tout en cherchant à montrer que cette réarticulation psyché-soma nécessaire dépend aussi de chaque histoire singulière. Elle se situe ainsi dans une perspective dynamique en envisageant les problèmes sous l’angle d’un processus : un processus de « vieillir », voire un travail de vieillir.

The psyche and soma in ageing: what the soma imposes on the psycheThe author seeks to address the individual’s relationship with his own ageing, his relationship to both time and death and the particular somato-psychic restructuring entailed. Adducing the effects of the body’s inevitable changes on psychic life, which can be traumatically overwhelming and even shattering to identity, she gives some examples to describe various clinical phenomena associated with the experience of ageing—depressive withdrawal, somatosis and reactivation in the present—while attempting to show that this necessary psyche–soma rearticulation also depends on each individual history. She thus adopts a dynamic perspective while considering the problems in process terms: as a process of ‘ageing’, even a work of ageing.

La autora intenta considerar la relación del individuo con su propio envejecimiento, su relación con el tiempo y la muerte y lo que ello implica como reacondicionamientos somato-psíquicos específicos. Al describir los efectos de las inevitables alteraciones del cuerpo sobre la vida psíquica, como desbordamientos traumáticos e incluso sacudida identitaria, ella describe, dando ejemplos, diversas expresiones clínicas vinculadas a las vivencias del envejecimiento : retiro depresivo, somatosis, reactivación de lo actual, tratando de mostrar que la articulación psique-soma necesaria depende también de la singularidad de la historia. Se ubica en un perspectiva dinámica que considera los problemas desde un proceso global : el proceso de “envejecer” incluso el trabajo de envejecer.

Der Autorin geht es hier darum, die Beziehung des Individuum zu seinem eigenen Altern, zur Zeit und zum Tod und die damit verbundenen besonderen somato-psychischen Neuverarbeitungen zu behandeln. Sie bespricht die psychischen Auswirkungen der unvermeidlichen Veränderungen des Körpers, welche eine traumatische Überforderung, ja eine Erschütterung der Identität darstellen und sie beschreibt anhand von Beispielen verschiedene klinische Ausdrucksformen, die mit dem Erleben des Alterns verbunden sind : depressiver Rückzug, Somatose, Reaktivierung des Aktuellen, wobei sie zu zeigen versucht, dass diese notwendige neue Verbindung von Psyche und Soma auch von der jeweiligen individuellen Geschichte abhängt. Sie geht also von einer dynamischen Perspektive aus und betrachtet die Probleme unter dem Gesichtspunkt eines Prozesses, dem Alterungsprozess, ja sogar einer Arbeit des Alterns.

Invocando gli effetti delle inevitabili alterazioni del corpo sulla vita psichica, del tipo di un eccesso traumatico, perfino di un vacillamento identitario, descrive, attraverso degli esempi, differenti espressioni cliniche legate al vissuto dell’invecchiamento : chiusura depressiva, somatosi, riattivazione dell’attuale, pur cercando di mostrare che questa riarticolazione necessaria psiche-soma dipende anche da ogni storia singola. Cosi’, l’autore si pone in una prospettiva dinamica considerando i problemi sotto l’angolo di un processo : un processo di « invecchiare », perfino un lavoro di invecchiare.
