Un confinement est une redoutable épreuve pour un musicien : il impose repli, solitude, impossibilité de transmettre, et annulation ou report de toute apparition publique. Ce sont cette résilience, ces souffrances mais aussi cette persévérance dans mon travail personnel, notamment des sonates de Beethoven ainsi que ces espérances vécues ces derniers mois que j’ai souhaité reproduire dans mes « Réflexions d’un pianiste confiné ».

Lockdown is a formidable ordeal for a musician: it imposes withdrawal, solitude, the impossibility of sharing one’s art, and the cancellation or postponement of any public appearances. It is this resilience in the face of suffering, but also this perseverance in my personal work, in particular Beethoven’s sonatas, as well as the hopes experienced in recent months, that I reproduce in my “Reflections of a pianist in lockdown.”
