Disorganization is a concept that belongs to the theorisation of the Paris Psychosomatic School. It represents one of the two major movements of psychosomatic pathology and is underpinned by the activity of the death drive and its regressive properties tending towards an increase in entropy. It represents an opposite movement to organization, which is underpinned by the life drives. From this point of view, the concept of disorganization can be understood, on the basis of Freudian metapsychology, as arising from a process of drive unbinding, with precedence given to the deconstructive action of the death drive. From a psychosomatic point of view, disorganization is opposed to systems of fixation-regression.

La désorganisation est un concept qui appartient en propre à la théorisation de l’École psychosomatique de Paris. Elle représente l’un des deux mouvements majeurs de la pathologie psychosomatique et est sous-tendue par l’activité de la pulsion de mort et ses propriétés régressives tendant vers l’accroissement de l’entropie. Elle représente un mouvement inverse de l’organisation qui, elle, est sous-tendue par les pulsions de vie. De ce point de vue, le concept de désorganisation peut être compris, à partir de la métapsychologie freudienne, comme découlant d’un processus de désintrication pulsionnelle avec préséance de l’action constructive de la pulsion de mort. Du point de vue psychosomatique, la désorganisation s’oppose aux systèmes de fixation-régression.
