Notes on The last Stage The Last Stage is the first drama created about Auschwitz-Birkenau, in 1947, at the actual crime scene, by Wanda Jakubowska, a political survivor of the Polish camp. The film matrix, from the immediate post-war period raises a series of figurative and formal issues, both ethical and ideological: in particular, it immediately compels a reflection on the powers and limitations of the reconstruction that can realistically create a place like Auschwitz.
