The contemporary Jewish writers Robert Schindel and Doron Rabinovici both live in Austria and both are sons of Holocaust survivors. This article addresses a certain number of questions raised by their work. How could the Jewish people live in Vienna after 1945? Why did they need so many years to express themselves and reclaim their Jewish identity? Schindel and Rabinovici write in order to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive. This article looks at how they go about achieving that goal.
