Cauchemar des racistes et des antisémites, le « métissage » judéo-chrétien fut une pierre d’achoppement des politiques antijuives. Véritable « question » dans la question juive, le sort des conjoints « d’aryens » et des « demi-juifs » fut non seulement un casse-tête pour les administrations mais une source de division au sein des régimes antisémites au cours des années trente et pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. À l’exception du cas allemand, le sort des « mixtes » a peu été étudié par les historiens. Les réflexions présentées ici, centrées sur la situation italienne et les enjeux politico-juridiques de la question, s’intègrent dans une recherche plus large, consacrée à la persécution des familles « mixtes » dans l’Italie fasciste et la France de Vichy. Le point de vue des acteurs de la politique antisémite y est privilégié. Toutefois, dans une perspective « d’histoire intégrée de la Shoah », les effets de la discrimination des « demi-juifs » et les stratégies de défense et de survie des victimes sont également évoqués.

Half-breeds, Mischlinge, misti: Uncertain border of the anti-Semitic persecutions The Jewish-Christian “intermix” was a stumbling block of the anti-Jewish policies and a nightmare for the racists and anti-Semitics. True “question” in the Jewish question, the fate of the spouses of “Aryans” and “half-Jews” was not only a headache for the administrations but also a source of conflict within the anti-Semitic regimes throughout the 30s and during World War II. Excepted for the German case, the fate of the Mischlinge has seldom been studied by historians. The analysis contained in the present article are based on the Italian situation, stress the political and legal challenges of the issue and are part of a wider research devoted to the persecution of the Jewish-Christian “intermarriages” families in the Fascist Italy and in the Vichy France. The article focuses on the views of the actors of the anti-Semitic policies. However, it also presents the first results of the research on the effects of the discrimination of the “half-breeds” and on the defence and survival strategies of the victims, in the perspective of an integrated history of the Shoah.
